Emily Piassick, Ph.D.

Director and licensed psychologist

Dr. Emily PiassickDr. Piassick received her doctoral degree in counseling psychology and her master's degree in higher education counseling from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Piassick completed her internship at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center. Prior to coming to Mercer, she was employed as a counselor at the YWCA of Greater Austin: Women's Counseling and Referral Center. Dr. Piassick began her seventh year of service at Mercer in Fall 2008.

Brent Meyer, L.C.S.W.

Assistant director and licensed clinical social worker

Brent Meyer, LCSWMr. Meyer received his master's degree in social work from the University of Chicago and bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Georgia.  Mr. Meyer completed internships in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.  Prior to coming to Mercer, he began his career as an inpatient psychiatric social worker at St. Catherine Hospital's Behavioral Health Services department in the Chicago area.  Following that he served as the head of social work for the Tallahassee Memorial Rehabilitation Center and was involved in an outpatient private practice.

Freedom Bowers

Freedom BowersMs. Bowers earned a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. Prior to working at Mercer, she taught third grade at Westside Baptist Academy in Warner Robins. She is currently enrolled in the Mercer School of Medicine's Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program and plans to graduate in summer of 2012. She began her career at Mercer in 2009.

 

Holly Brown

Marriage and Family Therapy Intern

Holly BrownMs. Brown received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She is currently in her second year at Mercer School of Medicine's Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program. Holly is interning at both CAPS and the Mercer Family Therapy Center. After graduating in summer of 2012, she hopes to pursue her doctoral degree.

 

Robin Tarver

Marriage and Family Therapy Intern

Robin TarverMs. Tarver received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia College and State University. She is currently enrolled in Mercer's Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy and is working as an intern at Mercer's CAPS office. Ms. Tarver is scheduled to complete her master's program in summer of 2012.

 

Alexis Moss

Graduate Assistant

Alexis MossMs. Moss earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Elon University. Currently, she is enrolled in the Mercer University School of Medicine's Master of Public Health program and intends to work in the fields of community-based research and preventative education. Since her enrollment in the Master of Public Health program, she has worked on various projects for Crisis Line & Safe House, the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Vision Fitness Center, and Community Health Works. She works with both the SHAPE and AWARE student programs.

Laura McKenzie

Lead Peer Educator - AWARE

Laura McKenzieMs. McKenzie is currently completing her Bachelors degree in Psychology at Mercer University. As the lead peer educator for AWARE, she coordinates meetings, events, presentations on wellness issues, and conducts peer counseling in conjunction with the therapists at CAPS. During the 2011-12 school year at Mercer she will be conducting research on internet solutions for stress management and hopes to work as a research assistant after graduation. She plans on pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She works with the AWARE student program.
