Student Volunteerism Opportunities

Center for Leadership and Volunteerism

Connell Student Center Lobby

The Center for Leadership and Volunteerism is a clearinghouse for volunteer services at Mercer, matching community organizations and agencies with student volunteers and organizations through volunteer fairs and placements. The Center also places interested students, including work-study students, in tutoring positions in Bibb County through the America Reads/America Counts Program. The Center for Leadership and Volunteerism works to support Mercer's student-led service organizations as well.

  • Mercer co-sponsors Lights On After School each fall with Communities In Schools, where Mercer student organizations join with 150 public school students in after-school programs for fun, food, and games.

  • Local organizations are represented at our annual volunteer fair where over 800 students have the opportunity to connect with a local organization that is looking for student volunteers.

  • LEAP has contributed over 9,000 of service since it began in 2010. They hold Service Saturdays almost every other weekend now. Help us combat poverty in Macon and reach our goal of 10,000 hours of service related to poverty alleviation this spring!
